Fields of Specialization:
At Sigmund Soudack & Associates the practice of structural engineering has an overriding objective: to realize the most ambitious designs economically and responsibly. We work as partners with clients, architects, and other engineers, often developing new systems or using new materials to reduce construction costs and ensure buildings are safe and sustainable.
Over 50-year track record includes numerous structural engineering innovations. We helped develop the flying form construction system, a flexible and time saving type of concrete forming widely used for supporting cast-in-place concrete slabs in high-rise buildings. We were responsible for the largest structural move of a house in Canada’s history — the 800-ton James Cooper Mansion on Toronto’s Sherbourne Street. And for the Absolute Condo in Mississauga we devised an effective and economical approach to thermal bridging between the balconies and the floor plates that twist around the vertical axis.
